RotaRota - how come?

RotaRota is the work of Mark Snape of Novate Ltd. I have been working with the Web since about 1998, and even then was a little too late to the party to make a fortune from it! These days I concentrate on fulfilling needs of people I see around me. Bringing technology to bear on problems in the simplest way possible.

As all good ideas on the web, RotaRota is born out of a personal need. Having been a Rotarian for 15 years, and Primary School PTA member and chairman for 14 years, I have come to realise how difficult it is to get commitment from people to give up their time.

Its not that they don’t want to, its just that they say they need to go away and check diaries, speak to their family etc etc and when they do come back to you and say they can do a particular day, that position has now been filled.

RotaRota provides a means for volunteers to check when they are at home or at work. They can immediately put their names down with a simple click and the entry of their name. There can be no arguments about who put their name down first as everyone is looking at the same version of the information.

Since originally concieving this as a tool for charity groups, I have become aware of many more opportunities such as;

  • youth sporting clubs where it is often the parents (who only loosely know each other) that have to step up and organise themselves to provide timekeeping, scoring, registration etc
  • food banks that need a constant source of volunteers
  • amateur drama groups

Should you have any concerns about the site and how the information within it might be used, please bear in mind that as a Rotarian, I honour and stand by the 4-way test;

Of the things we think, say or do...

  1. Is it the TRUTH?
  2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
  3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
  4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

I hope that you find RotaRota useful to you and your groups and would be very pleased to hear how you use it and how it can be made even better.

Mark
